I just finished listening to your podcast and it was great as always but I completely disagree with your opinion on operating systems. The idea of systems “just working” sounds great especially the way you guys say it, but the problem is that most of the things that are supposed to “just work” doesn’t just work … In my opinion that’s why so many tech people oppose to the changes.

Simple example: I’m a web developer and today I’d wanted to hook up my ftp server as a “letter-drive” in Windows. Therefore I could use text editing programs with file explorer and make it very easy to develop and update files right on the ftp server. It took me about 20 minutes to go through about 8 different forums to finally find an answer that it’s impossible natively in Windows and so I had to use 3rd-party software. So even though Windows was supposed to be easy to use and make it simple to configure different things I couldn’t get it to work. (And it’s possible because 3rd-party program did that for me).

My point here is that even if all those companies will TRY to make things work simple, there is still millions of services, devices, programs, etc. that can’t be packed into one simple configuration therefore there is no way to make system 100% “just working” … So why would they take away tech people’s freedom to make it all work, and create system that doesn’t allow you to work … And I’m talking mainly Windows here obviously.

Anyway, thanks for the great show – can’t wait till Tuesday.

Guess where I was when I heard: “P.S: Don’t google cupping.” auhsahsuhasuhausuahs

Google+ Shouldn’t have brand pages, if people like the said brand, they could +1 the brand’s website.

You can view your friend’s +1′s already so adding a brand page will simply be redundant.

Also I wanted to thank you for correcting me on Windows 8 – That’s what I get for going to rumor sites -_-

so maybe planking does hurt mankind like with people dying which I didn’t know about but the alien thing is a little stretch. If Lamar believes in aliens, I might have to tell him to sssssStop It!

John, do you think we are the only civilization in this enormous universe ? That we are the only kind of life (besides other life on Earth) ? Doubtful :)

Thought you guys might want to see, you can register Emoji domains with Lion. Really cool feature, even if a bit impractical at this point in time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xb7h4cHOBI

If I looked correctly, you can connect multiple Thunderbolt Devices together…

    • T3charmy

Oh and not to say, The price to upgrade a Mac, compared to the price of upgrading a Windows Computer, is a lot cheaper, also, you mentioned the reversed scrolling, you will still run into a problem, when going over to a windows computer. On to windows: Personally, If they don’t have the option to make it like the older Windows, I have a feeling that they may lose some users, but still in return they may gain some in the end…

lol, the picture spells pieces wrong FAIL

I have named my dog after Gizmo, that’s because he looks cute and sweet but he is a pain!

I think they should have brand pages on Google+, but I think there should be a way to make them separate. I hate to say it but Facebook is good for that.

I think students can benefit for iPads as long as there is nothing to distract them. I think it would be easier to find the things they need as they are studying! Plus there is nothing worst than having 5 books around you as your doing your coursework. If the iPad was out when I was in college it would have save me a lot of time and stress!

    Planking is silly!

I live in Finland and I have had spotify premium for months. No ads, unlimited listening, offline mode and a mobile version. It is the best.

I am a student and I recently have been thinking about buying an iPad or one of the top of the range Android tablets for school, because there really is no point of carrying around my bulky laptop to every class when I can take notes on a device that’s smaller and a lot more reliable. Windows Explorer crashes on my about 3 times a day :(

whaaa i thought this was this weeks show until the end, thats a fail, any who to the lqotw, i think a specialized tablet is needed, with no browser, an office suite, and a email program only to send projects and assignments to teachers, and maybe cloud support. it should also be relatively cheap, maybe $25 a piece wholesale
